VA "Idiomes"

I don't have original CD of this, but as I remember this was in cardboard screenprinted cover and I've just photocopied it in black and white. So, the picture of the cover is photoshop coloured after some small picture that I found on the web.
Anyway here's another 90s hardcore compilation that I actually never listened carefully until now, because the Stonehenge Records label put out a lot of emo (and that I didn't like), so basically I burnt it because Stalingrad were on it.
Now i realise that the "most emo" band on this compilation is Man In The Shadow from Slovenia, the guys that I knew at the time and have two of their 7"s in my collection.
The theme of the compilation was something about domination of english language and as you can see it on the cover, all bands are european.

Rövsvett/Raped Teenagers split 7"

Two Swedish hardcore bands. Rövsvett play since early 80s and they're still active. Their stuff is more classic hardcore punk that's not too impressive to me while Raped Teenagers play their unusual crazy version of hardcore with thousands of rhythm and pace changes in the songs.
While in high school I was really obsessed with this band trying to make everybody to like them. I guess this post is just continuing of that. And where is that discography that was supposed to be out on 625 thrashcore???
Info on Rövsvett in English and Swedish. Raped Teenagers' KFTH page here.

Unhinged "Resisting the Murder of Self" 7"

Great band from Liège, Belgium consisting of people that made Nabate Records and Hiatus, punk trademarks of the city.
That alone should be a recommendation enough. Great crusty punk with screaming female vocals.
You can also find their second LP here on Nabate Records blog.

Eluj "Eva Ti Mi Pomažeš Više Nego Bog "

Every country has few cities that produce tons of great bands. For Croatia, Pula is one of them and surely is my personal favourite.
That is where this band comes from. If you're not Croatian you're probably wondering why is this guy's picture instead of the album cover.
First of all this is web only release from Monte Paradiso Netlabel, and second - this is one man band since Jule, the man from the photo, (band name is his name backwards) recorded everything by himself.
Monte Paradiso Netlabel is a part of Pula's Monte Paradiso collective and they make Monte Paradiso hardcore punk festival for more than 15 years. They also run an autonomous cultural center and have released a lot of stuff from bands from pula and Netlabel is just next step where you can download out of print and never to be physically released stuff for free. Check it out.
And Jule is person cursed with inability to make bad music. This stuff was never recorded by his former band
Anti-Otpad (who are my all-time favourite Croatian hcpunk) so he did it himself. After the break-up of Anti-Otpad he played in punk rockin' machine called Barrakuda and now is destroying our ears in grindcore monster called Bolesno Grinje (which is half Anti-Otpad BTW). Be sure to check them out. They have four albums released in Mexico and USA, one split LP released by Croatian label and them and an EP on Netlabel. Pure dirty oldschool grindcore as it is meant to be.
Here you can see Eluj video (that is cut off in the end for some strange reason). There's some Bolesno Grinje videos too on their site.

VA "Under The Sign Of The Lousy Tree: A Black Metal Compilation" 7"

When I was looking for some info on this release it has been called "Under The Sign Of The Lousy Tree: A Black Metal Compilation" or "A U.K. Punk Cooperation" because both sides of the cover look like front cover. I've decided to go with the first one 'cause it's way cooler.
This is another compilation 7" with UK hardcore bands similar to this one. The last track goes on forever, so I just made a short fade-out in the end.

Headache/Recusant split 7"

And now for something completely different...
These two punk bands are really something else. Both bands provide their crazy versions of manic (jazzy?) punk and while I don't know much about Recusant (as I can remember from the days when this was new they were connected to France somehow or am I wrong again?) I was lucky enough to watch Headache in Slovenia (that gig was out on CD-R as 33rd Flat Earth release) and that gig is surely among top 20 gigs of my life.
Manic genious musical insanity that is still fresh to me as it was when I first heard it. I suck in describing music, so you can check it out in the player.

Post Regiment "Post Regiment"

Wanted to post their "Czarzły" album, but a friend of mine has just posted it a couple of days ago on his blog, so I've decided to put the first album.
One of the best known and most important Polish punk bands of all time. Hailing from Warsaw, Post Regiment gained international "fame" in punk circles that lasts since early 90s 'till now. Even people with more aggressive musical taste couldn't resist their melodic, yet fast and tight version of punk rock with great energetic vocals of their singer Nika.
I also have this on LP, but it has only 19 songs since last 4 songs are from another recording session.
You can find out more about them here.

Slow downloads

It's been more than a week now that I have problems with ADrive that I use to upload my files. The downloads are now sooo slow that it takes a lot of nerves to wait for download to finish. Also I can no longer see if the stuff has been downloaded or not since the statistics are fucked too, so the comments are much appreciated. Anyway I'll see what happens in next week or so. I'd hate to change the upload site as this one was like a dream come true with no limits whatsoever and 50 GB of storage (until it goes Div$hare on us).
Be patient.

Eyehategod "Southern Discomfort"

This is a collection of rarities by sludge masters Eyehategod.

Calloused/Shitlist split CD

I'm a bit lazy so I'll just copy the review from Profane Existence here. It sez it all.
Minneapolis' Calloused (ex-State of Fear, Mankind?, etc.) blast out with nine new tracks of powerful, female-fronted crust onslaught and have a wickedly brutal production sorely lacking on their previous 12". Backing them up are another nine new sick and brutal tracks from Seattle's Shitlist (ex-Decrepit, Deformed Conscience, Whorehouse of Reps., etc.). All of the new songs here were recorded for a soon to be released split LP, also to come out on Fired Up! Records. However, the CD totally rocks because as a bonus it contains six additional Calloused tracks from their "Masquerade" 12", plus Shitlist's "A Cold Slap of Reality" EP in it's entirety.

Resist "Free" 7"

Nothing to say about this bunch, you already know it all. One of the best political punk bands in the 90s. One of the best political punk bands ever, actually.
Just few facts about the record. This 7" was released in Poland, last song is recorded live in 1992 at El Paso Squat, Torino, Italy and the 7" has way too long (4 min.) intro and that's why I've made it as a separate song so I can skip it.

Strikniën D.C. "Songs from The Smack Cradle" 7"

I know that a lot of people are fed up with ska punk (me too), and that's not without reason 'cause there was tons of shitty bands that made the whole genre soooo boring, but...
There are always bands that stand out from every genre and Strikniën D.C. are surely one of them.
I would call this punk with ska rather than ska punk (and you won't feel guilty if you'll like it). The power of punk rock is surely here with such nice guitar tunes that I haven't heard too often and ska parts aren't boring um-cha um-cha heard it thousand times type, but they carry the tune too.
This was their only vinyl release as far as I know. They also had split CD w/Monkhouse, "Ghettoblaster" CD (with this 7" on it) and "Horses For Courses" CD. Later there was a discography which included all that plus CDR with unreleased stuff. All that stuff was released by Irish "Rejected Records".
This is the band that made me sick of the rest of ska punk and made me listen to their punk with ska A LOT during quite a few years.
This here is an excellent band.

So Much Hate "Seein' Red"

This is the fourth album by this legendary hardcore punk band from Oslo, Norway. Not much what I can think of saying about them except that they're one of my all time greats and that you already know about them and feel the same way.
I've heard people saying that this is their weakest release, but I don't see nothing weak about it.
Originally released in 1991 on German X-Mist Records. This is 1993 joint reissue with Polish Nikt Nic Nie Wie with bonus "A Day At The Station" 7", plus a cover of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze.
For their discography (tiny bit inaccurate yearwise and lacking "It's Your Choice..." 2x10" comp.) check out their KFTH page. There's also an interview with them from Raising Hell zine #23.

The Dagda "Blind Kings" 7"

Irish hardcore/crust band formed in 2000 by ex-members of Jobbykrust, My Name Is Satan, Split Red and Bleeding Rectum. They recorded 6 songs in March 2000 and four of them made this earcrushing debut 7".
I got this 7" when I met a couple of Irish folks that came to "Monte Paradiso" festival in Pula (I can only remember Connor and Ken's names) and we were talking a bit about music and drinking a few bits more. I gave Ken a tape of AK47, a band from my town and later in the evening he came to me with this 7" from some distro saying: Yougoddaheerthis. After a week or two when I was finally home I've finally realised why he was so excited about it. It was blasting hardcore crust in the vein of His Hero Is Gone. The listening was truly awesome experience. It's still very much listened in my HQ.
Thanx to Ken for introducing me to this mighty band.

Total Failure "Use Your Head"

This is (was) the band from Kraljevo, Serbia. Heavily influenced by UK punk scene (proof: covers of Chaos U.K., Ripcord and Oi Polloi). Their real name is Totalni Promašaj and all of their songs are in their native language (Chaos U.K. and Ripcord covers too). Their name and tracklist are in english 'cause this was issued in Japan.
They toured Slovenia with my friends Bad Justice from Požega, Croatia in 1996 as part of "Over The Walls Of Nationalism And War" (see previous post) project and that was the first tour of two bands from these countries that were at war until one year ago (then, not now). I was happy to be with them on tour and I remember having a very good time even though 3/4 of the band were straight edge and everyone else more or less dead drunk/stoned. I especially remember when a friend of mine fell asleep in one of the big speakers on stage while Forca Macabra were playing. That was a keeper.
I don't have the original CD and the cover is (badly) photocopied. The original CD was in 7" cover.
By the way, their drummer was around 13 or 14 years old when they recorded this!

VA - Preko Zidova Nacionalizama I Rata 7"

This 7" (english title "Over The Walls Of Nationalism And War") came out one year after the war in ex-Yugoslavia ended. There are 2 bands from Macedonia (Brigade O.D. and Überzeitung), Serbia (Totalni Promašaj and Hoću?Neću!) and Croatia (Nula and Bijes Zdravog Razuma) and Wasserdicht from Slovenia. More info in the text from the record:
Project "Over the Walls of Nationalism and War" is a compilation 7", which presents 7 bands from the area of ex-Yugoslavia. This whole project is thought of as some kind of a communication between the people of good will, and as a proof that, despite the newcame situation, where mutual intolerance rules, dialogue isn't only possible, but also necessary. Regarding that, this record brings a very strong anti-war message, and wants to speed up the peace process over here, peace process which can found solid ground only if tolerance and peace win over the present atmosphere. This effort is proportionally small, just like there are very few people who, like us, do actually take a stand against the war, and defend it with more than just words, but actually practise their declarative stands. But however, it doesn't matter how small and irrelevant this peace of plastic, with noisy and rebellious sounds may seem, it is also a very big step for us. We like to think of it as big because this effort shows that we are here, and that we have the will and the strength to stand up and say "no!", For us, being against the violence, and war is a normal thing, but we can't simply stand by side and watch how those in power rule over other people's lives. We know that our rebellion may seem to some as banging our heads against the wall, but if you look more closely and realize that the only other alternative is to fit in the mob, and become apathic, than you will understand why do we prefer to keep on banging our heads against the walls of stupidity and primitivism. A few words about us. What kind of people are we? Mostly young, who have accidentally found themselves on the wrong place, in the wrong time, on divided sides of an armed conflict. If we had any effect on the society we live in, there would never be any such conflict whatsoever. We believe that nationalism is one of the main reasons why did all this happen, but also that the roots of the crisis reach much further into the spheres of financial, historical, political, culturological and religious problems. Bands from other parts of ex-Yu aren't on this record, but that's not so because there aren't any or because that they didn't want to cooperate, but because their recordings were unreachable at the time. However, we have managed to establish contact with them recently, so watch out for more crazy people banging their heads against the walls of nationalism and war...
