Hillbilly Blitzkrieg/Welfare split 7"

Another one from my friends' bag (see last post) and this time it's boozer Shangri-la. First of all, you have to know that we've drank literally gallons of various types of booze over the years that we know each other and when I saw this in a record store in Amsterdam I knew that this wold be great gift for him.
Anyway, what you have here is two punk bands that sing about booze (well - in 5 out of 6 songs), even in a song about killing all the cops. No brainer, but it is a lot of fun. I believe that these bands are made just for fun of it by Tulsa hardcore crew since this 7" was released on Brother Inferior's label and both bands recorded their stuff in NOTA World Headquarters plus on Welfare's "Life Sucks... Stay Drunk" guest vocalist is Jeff Klein of N.O.T.A. fame. If lyrics like "Bitches won't kiss me, but the bottle will" don't offend you you might well enjoy this.

Released: 1996
Label: Sensual Underground Ministries

02. Hillbilly Blitzkrieg - Asa'a Motto
03. Hillbilly Blitzkrieg - Tech-Bus Girls

I was there!
Haha! HBBK on the internets!
HBBK, Welfare, Brother Inferior, NOTA Bob of Tribes, The Kids Who Never Learned to Color Inside the Lines, Disassociated and all the other Tulsa punk bands of the era used to play at an upstairs club called the 401. I believe the scene in Weird Al's UHF (which was shot in Tulsa) where the kung fu teacher throws the guy out of the window then says hi to Weird Al shows where it was at. As teenager we got wasted and hung out there on a regular basis. I would never think someone would buy that 7" in Amsterdam AND actually take the time to write about it. Cheers to you!

Thanx, Bart.
I love this record and I can guess that you'd love this post even more when you're part of the Tulsa crew. It's a really good laugh. And you gave me idea what to do today. I'll watch UHF again. It's been a while.
Cheers.

Bart is telling the truth! I can confirm! I believe Bart was at the first ever show at the 401 when it was near the Blue Dome district. I remember he was crawling on the floor drooling, for reasons I won't go into...

HBBK was the shit. i love this 7".
